Portrait of Witold Urbański

Czachórski, born in Lublin in 1850, had trained at the Munich Academy under luminaries including Karl von Piloty, graduating with a Grand Silver Medal — so by 1878, when this portrait was made, he was a confident and technically refined painter in his late twenties. Notably, that same year he also completed a Self-Portrait, suggesting 1878 was a period of intense personal and artistic reflection.
