Shimla. From Mount Jakko, Looking West

This albumen print captures a sweeping vista of Shimla, India, from the elevated perspective of Mount Jakko. The photograph, taken in 1863, reveals the nascent development of the British hill station, with structures dotting the landscape amidst the dramatic mountainous terrain.
