Born Hippolyte-Paul Delaroche in Paris in 1797, this French painter became renowned for his historical scenes, earning fame across Europe for his melodramatic yet meticulously detailed depictions of English and French history. Delaroche's artistic journey began at L'École des Beaux-Arts, initially studying landscapes under Louis Étienne Watelet.
