Théodore Gericault

Born in Rouen, France, in 1791, Jean-Louis André Théodore Géricault moved to Paris as a child, where his early artistic talents were recognized. He trained with Carle Vernet, learning English sporting art, and later with the classicist Pierre-Narcisse Guérin.
