Born Solomon LeWitt in Hartford, Connecticut, in 1928, Sol LeWitt's artistic journey began early with art classes at the Wadsworth Atheneum. After earning his BFA from Syracuse University and serving in the Korean War, he moved to New York City in 1953, immersing himself in the burgeoning art scene.
