Roelandt Savery

Born in Kortrijk in 1576, Roelandt Savery was part of an Anabaptist family that fled the Spanish-occupied Southern Netherlands, settling in Haarlem around 1585. He received his artistic training from his older brother, Jacob Savery, and Hans Bol, laying the foundation for his distinctive style.
