Born in Silesia in 1874, Otto Mueller was a German painter and printmaker whose early artistic training included lithography in Görlitz and Breslau. He continued his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Dresden and Munich, though he famously left the latter after being deemed "untalented" by Franz von Stuck.
