Olga Wisinger-Florian

Austrian Impressionist Olga Wisinger-Florian transformed a hand injury that ended her piano career into a second act as a celebrated landscape painter.

ABOUT

Born and raised in Vienna, Olga Wisinger-Florian initially pursued a career as a concert pianist. She began private art lessons at 19, but her parents encouraged her musical talents, leading her to study with renowned pianist Julius Epstein. From 1868 to 1873, she enjoyed success as a pianist, but a hand injury abruptly ended her musical aspirations.
