Born in Berlin in 1922, Lucian Freud's early life was marked by the family's emigration to London in 1933 to escape Nazism. He became a British subject in 1939. Freud's artistic journey began with studies at the Central School of Art and Cedric Morris' East Anglian School of Painting and Drawing.
