Louis Valtat

Born in Dieppe, France, in 1869, Louis Valtat hailed from a wealthy family of ship owners. Encouraged by his amateur landscape painter father, Valtat pursued art from a young age, enrolling in the prestigious École des Beaux-Arts de Paris in 1887. He later honed his skills at the Académie Julian, where he encountered future Nabis artists like Pierre Bonnard and Édouard Vuillard.
