John Wollaston

John Wollaston, an English painter active from 1742 to 1775, played a pivotal role in introducing English Rococo portraiture to the American colonies. While much of his early life remains a mystery, it's believed he was born in London, possibly the son of a painter also named John Wollaston or Woolston.
