John Henry Twachtman (1853–1902) was an American painter celebrated for his innovative and highly individual approach to Impressionism. Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, Twachtman began his artistic journey there, studying under Frank Duveneck. Like many ambitious artists of his era, he sought further training in Europe, enrolling in the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich in 1875.
