ABOUT

Born Franz Stuck in Tettenweis, Germany, in 1863, Franz Ritter von Stuck displayed a talent for drawing and caricature from a young age. He moved to Munich in 1878 to begin his artistic education, attending the Munich Academy from 1881 to 1885. His early career saw him gain recognition for cartoons in *Fliegende Blätter* and designs for book decorations. His first paintings, exhibited at the Munich Glass Palace in 1889, earned him a gold medal for *The Guardian of Paradise*.…
