Born in Lille, France, in 1868, Émile Bernard's artistic journey began early, nurtured by his grandmother. After moving to Paris in 1878, he pursued formal art education, first at the École des Arts Décoratifs and then the Atelier Cormon. It was there, in 1884, that he started experimenting with Impressionism and Pointillism, forging friendships with future luminaries like Louis Anquetin and Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec.
