Edward Armitage

Edward Armitage (1817–1896) was a prominent English painter of the Victorian era, born into a wealthy family of Yorkshire industrialists. His early artistic training took him to Paris, where he enrolled at the École des Beaux-Arts in 1837 and studied under the acclaimed history painter Paul Delaroche.
