Crispijn van den Broeck

Born in Mechelen in 1523, Crispijn van den Broeck hailed from a family of artists, some of whom adopted the Latinized name 'Paludanus' from the Dutch word 'broeck' (marsh or swamp land). He likely received his initial training from his father, Jan van den Broeck, also a painter.
