Bram van Velde

Bram van Velde (1895-1981) was a Dutch painter whose journey from poverty to recognition spanned much of the twentieth century. Born in Zoeterwoude, Netherlands, he came from humble beginnings and was largely self-taught. After working as an apprentice to a painter-decorator in The Hague, he moved to Germany and later to Paris in 1925, where he would spend most of his creative life.
