Born in Reggio Calabria in 1882, Umberto Boccioni's early life was marked by frequent relocations due to his father's government job, taking him across Italy from Forlì to Genoa, Padua, and eventually Sicily. By 1898, he moved to Rome, where he began formal art studies at the Scuola Libera del Nudo and under the Liberty style artist Giovanni Mataloni.
