Born in 1405, Sano di Pietro, also known as Ansano di Pietro di Mencio, was a prominent Italian painter of the Sienese school, active for over fifty years during the Quattrocento period. His career officially began when he entered the roll of painters in 1428, a position he held until his death in 1481.
