ABOUT

Samuel Prout, born in Plymouth in 1783, began his artistic journey drawing the rustic landscapes of Devon alongside Benjamin Robert Haydon. Encouraged by his schoolmaster, John Bidlake, Prout's early career saw him contributing sketches for John Britton's 'Beauties of England' and moving to London in 1803.
