Samuel Peploe

Born in Edinburgh in 1871, Samuel Peploe initially pursued a career in law before dedicating himself to art around 1889. He honed his skills at the Trustees Academy in Edinburgh, the Royal Scottish Academy schools, and later at the Académie Julian and Académie Colarossi in Paris, where he shared a room with fellow Scottish painter Robert Brough.
