ABOUT

Born in Fontenay-aux-Roses in 1867, Pierre Bonnard initially pursued a law degree to satisfy his father, even practicing briefly in 1888. However, his true passion lay in art, which he studied concurrently at the Académie Julian and later the École des Beaux-Arts. It was at the Académie Julian that he met future collaborators like Paul Sérusier and Maurice Denis, leading to the formation of Les Nabis, an avant-garde group of Post-Impressionist painters.
