Born in Enkhuizen in 1625, Paulus Potter's artistic journey began in his youth, studying painting with his father, Pieter Symonsz Potter, in Amsterdam. His family moved several times during his early years, settling in Leiden and then Amsterdam, where he honed his craft. Tragically, Potter's life was cut short by tuberculosis at the age of 28, yet in his brief career, he produced around 100 paintings, working continuously and leaving an indelible mark on Dutch art.
