Born in Landshut, Bavaria, in 1868, Max Slevogt began his artistic journey studying at the Munich Academy from 1885 to 1889, where his early works were characterized by the prevailing dark tones of the Munich style. His artistic horizons broadened significantly after visiting Paris in 1889, attending the Académie Julian, and later in 1900, where he was deeply impressed by Édouard Manet's paintings.
