ABOUT

Born in Castlemaine, Victoria, Australia in 1881, Martin Lewis showed a passion for drawing from a young age. He left home at 15, traveling and working odd jobs before returning to Sydney to study at the Art Society's School. His early exposure to printmaking through his teacher Julian Ashton, one of Australia's first printmakers, would prove foundational to his career.
