ABOUT

Born in 1822, Linnaeus Tripe began his career in the East India Company army in 1838, eventually becoming a lieutenant based in southern India. It was during a period of leave due to ill health in England, from 1850 to 1854, that Tripe discovered and began experimenting with photography, joining the Photographic Society of London in 1853.
