Léon Cogniet

Born in Paris in 1794, Léon Cogniet began his artistic journey under the tutelage of his father, a painter and wallpaper designer. His formal education continued at the École des Beaux-arts, where he studied with Pierre-Narcisse Guérin and worked in Jean-Victor Bertin's studios.
