ABOUT

Born in Birmingham, Alabama, in 1955, Kerry James Marshall moved with his family to South Central Los Angeles as a child, an experience that profoundly shaped his artistic vision. Growing up near the Black Panther Party headquarters instilled in him a strong sense of social responsibility, which he carries into his work.
