Joris Hoefnagel

Born in Antwerp in 1542, Joris Hoefnagel was a true Renaissance man: a painter, printmaker, miniaturist, draftsman, and merchant. Though his father intended him for the family business of diamonds and luxury goods, Hoefnagel received a humanist education, speaking multiple languages and excelling in music and poetry.
