Born in Lyon in 1728, Jean-Baptiste Pillement embarked on an extraordinarily cosmopolitan career, leaving his mark across Europe. At just 15, he moved to Paris, apprenticing with Jean-Baptiste Oudry, a prominent designer. This early training set the stage for a life of artistic exploration. He spent five years in Madrid, painting rustic scenes with shepherds, water mills, and lush landscapes, themes he would return to throughout his career. His journey then took him to Lisbo…
