Jean Charlot

Born in Paris in 1898, Jean Charlot had a deep, early connection to Mexico through his mother's family, who had roots in Mexico City, and his great-grandfather, who married a half-Aztec woman. This heritage, coupled with his fascination for pre-Columbian artifacts and Mexican manuscripts, led him to learn Nahuatl as a teenager.
