Jan Hendrik Weissenbruch

Born in The Hague in 1824, Jan Hendrik Weissenbruch came from a family steeped in art; his father, a chef, was also a painter and art collector. Young Jan Hendrik received drawing lessons from Johannes Low and later attended evening classes at the Hague Academy of Art under Bartholomeus van Hove.
