Born in Antwerp in 1640, Gérard Edelinck began his artistic journey under the tutelage of engravers Gaspar Huybrechts and Cornelius Galle the Younger. Seeking to refine his craft, he moved to Paris in 1666, a pivotal decision that would define his career. There, he collaborated with Nicolas Pitau the elder and further honed his skills studying with masters like François de Poilly, Robert Nanteuil, and the painter Philippe de Champaigne.
