ABOUT

George Inness (1825–1894) was a transformative American landscape painter whose career spanned over forty years and produced more than 1,000 paintings. Born in Newburgh, New York, Inness showed early artistic promise, studying with itinerant painter John Jesse Barker and later with French landscape artist Régis François Gignoux.
