George Condo, born in 1957 in Concord, New Hampshire, emerged as one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary American painting. After studying art history and music theory at the University of Massachusetts Lowell, Condo moved to New York City in the late 1970s, where he became embedded in the downtown punk and art scene.
