ABOUT

Born in Hartford, Connecticut, in 1826, Frederic Edwin Church came from a wealthy family, which allowed him to pursue his passion for art from a young age. At 18, he became the pupil of the renowned landscape artist Thomas Cole, studying with him for two years in Catskill, New York.
