ABOUT

Born around 1451, Ercole de' Roberti, also known as Ercole Ferrarese or Ercole da Ferrara, emerged as a prominent Italian artist of the Early Renaissance, part of the distinctive School of Ferrara. The son of a doorkeeper at the Este castle, his early life saw him leave Ferrara by 1473 to work in Bologna in the studio of Francesco del Cossa.
