Born Jean-Édouard Vuillard in 1868, this French painter, decorative artist, and printmaker initially pursued a military career before dedicating himself to art. After failing several times, he was accepted into the École des Beaux-Arts in 1887, where he honed his academic skills. However, a significant shift occurred in late 1889 when he joined Les Nabis, an avant-garde artistic group dedicated to transforming art.
