Arthur Melville

Born in Loanhead-of-Guthrie, Scotland, in 1855, Arthur Melville's artistic journey began modestly while working as a grocer's apprentice. He pursued evening art classes in Edinburgh, often walking eight miles each way, demonstrating his early dedication. His talent was recognized when his painting, 'A Cabbage Garden,' was accepted by the Royal Academy in 1877.
