ABOUT

Born in Vienna in 1733, Anton von Maron followed in his father Johann Leopold Maron's footsteps, training at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna under Karl Aigen and Daniel Gran. His artistic journey led him to Rome in 1755, a pivotal move that would shape his career. There, he became a pupil and assistant to the renowned Anton Raphael Mengs, director of the Vatican painting school.
