ABOUT

Born in Skagen, Denmark, in 1859, Anna Ancher was unique among the famed Skagen Painters as the only one native to the remote fishing village. Her father owned Brøndums Hotel, a hub for the artists who flocked to the region, giving Anna early exposure to the art world. Her talent blossomed young, and she honed her skills at the Vilhelm Kyhn College of Painting in Copenhagen for three years, developing a distinctive style focused on the interplay of natural light and color.
