André Lhote

Born in Bordeaux, France, in 1885, André Lhote began his artistic journey early, learning wood carving and sculpture from the age of 12. He formally studied decorative sculpture at the École des Beaux-Arts in Bordeaux from 1898 to 1904. During this time, Lhote secretly pursued painting, eventually leaving home in 1905 to dedicate himself to the craft.
