ABOUT

Adolph Menzel, born Adolph Friedrich Erdmann Menzel in Breslau (now Wrocław, Poland) in 1815, rose to become one of the most prominent German painters of the 19th century. His journey into art began early, with his lithographer father intending to educate him as a professor but ultimately supporting his artistic inclinations.
